can anyone give me step by step instrutions on headlight bulb changing on my 1998 disco mk1?

 

1. You download a free copy of the RAVE, the factory service manual. Then you are as well armed as the mechanic in your battle against English Engineering.

2. You find this page. Attached.

3. Note that there are two bulbs inside the headlight reflector. The tiny one is a "city light" that comes on like a parking lamp. Used in congested cities of the world where narrow sidewalks if any and home windows right at the roadway.

 

Open the bonnet, look behind the headlamp, there are spring clips, unhook them, the lamp will come forward.
There are centering pins on the headlamp, DO NOT BREAK THOSE, unplug the bulb.
Unscrew bulb, replace bulb, DO NOT touch the new bulb with anything.
Put it all back.
Your first time its a huge pain in the butt, but once you figure it out its easy.

 

It is even more fun with front brush guards.

No, a proper brush guard has the room for this.
The OEM brush guard with the screw on lamp guards come off.
