Default reverse lights dont work

greetings... new to landrovers so have got a disco 97 and although seems to be sound it has a few issues, diff lock lever stuck but drives, reverse lights don't work, radio not working, rear window not working etc so need help for the reverse lights first...

i found items that seem to point to the xyz or switch inhibit that has reverse wiring in it so am i in the right direction??? the bulbs have been checked once i got into them (blooming seats!!!) so don't know what to look for where it is etc...

i've tried to look for spares to but not sure of the best places..

Check for power at the lights, metal tabs on the backside of the tail light housing. Work back from there.

Is this manual trans? If so, have someone watch or back up to wall closely or slider window like many homes in fl and put in rev and push shifter to right and notice if lights come on or not.

If auto trans.... check power like above and if no power, remove and check rev switch with continuity tester on leads and actuate switch and you should get ring if tester is set on audible if switch is good. Not sure if there is a realy for such a low power consuming switch as that but then check relay.

i have an automatic gear shift so after reading up it seems the reverse switch is mixed up in with the inhibit switch on a multi-plug so if weather is good at weekend will be drilling out the difflock shift area as that has seized too and looking at the switch. as for the reverse light i have put it in reverse and looked at it and nothings on...
