So what did you do to your Disco today?
I had my Power Steering Gear Box replaced. This is how I feel about the Disco 1:

It has cost me a lot of hard earned mulas but it gave me a lot of hard core pleasure as well.
My Disco 1 took me there and beyond.
replaced my D1 head lights with D2 head lights. looks grea much better than the clear ones.
then put new tires on her (not quite sure what size off the top of my head but they are close to a 245 70 r16) Took a wheelin trip to the HighLakes and sliced up my front tire pretty good. Ended up with a flat, but it was fixable when i got back into town.
next on my list is a 3'' lift. Passanger front spring is sagging. Might as well get a new lift.

[QUOTE=fishEH;405884]That driveshaft is interesting. I hope it works out for you but with your lift(about 4" if I recall correctly) I'm not sure the geometry will jive. I thought the D1 front geometry from the factory could almost accommodate a Double Cardan shaft but for $ reasons they went with some out of phase set up. Lifting a D1 3"+ almost always necessitates a DC shaft, since the pinion ends up pointing at the TC and the TC output is at zero.
Yes, I have decided to go with your recommendation.
Very valuable info, thanks.
Installed the propshaft and is OK but not sure about the strength.
Awaiting quote from Terrafirma for Double Cardan Probshaft.
Question: The D2 came out with a CV on the front P/shaft.
Will it work as is or do we need to modify
PS: The Pinion is pointing upwards towards the Transfer case.

This. A stock D2 shaft will work, BUT the stock ujoints in a D2 shaft are not servicable due to no grease fittings. So like Ian mentioned you'll want to make sure whatever front shaft you go with has grease fittings for the ujoints and the CV.
Thanks!
