So what did you do to your Disco today?
Replaced the brake master. On Paul Grants advice I used a TRW unit instead of a LR original. I took his word that TRW owns Lucas. Payed $189 on amazon.com. Anyway it bolted right up and I used my brand new Power Bleeder to zoom some new DOT 4 through it. It went so quick it felt like cheating. Oh and I drove it a while to comfirm that the brakes wouldnt hang up from a non-LR master. All clear.

Finally got to drive the truck after working on it for 6 months. I was amazed at how comfortable the seat is, and less than thrilled with the feel of the brakes, despite having rebuilt or replaced everything but the master cylinder and the ABS system.
Engine & trans seem great. AC is empty, need to look at that. Temp gauge goes up to about 1/3 and stays there during city driving.
The thing feels very narrow for it's height off the ground. Definitely not a British sportcar. :-)

Quick question: at what temps are you setting the alarms? I have a similar scan tool and am trying to get a read on baseline etc. past weekend was pulling a grade and temps were 212f and needle had barely moved so I'm wondering g what the operating range is in degrees rather than needle position.
Thanks!
so i was coming down a steep mountain logging road when i lost my brakes..... used tranny and hand brake to make it close to the highway where the tow truck picked me up... weirdly enough while i was fishing at the top of said mountain road i met a guy drive a disco s2 2003 who turned out to be an ex land rover employee.. who oddly enough happened to have steel braided brake lines for the model im driving ( 95 Disco). it seemed a little suspicious that my brakes would go shorty after meeting this person..... coincidence or really bad way to sell possibly stolen parts? i will take a close look at the leaking brake line to see if its just worn. rotted etc or wether it was tampered with. any opinions pls respond thanks
Installed my EBC green pads and no name drilled rotors on the left rear wheel. Started with the rear to ease into it as its my first time doing this repair. Only got the one wheel done because I took my sweet *** time and it was wicked hot and humid. New rotor, pads, thorough cleaning of all components, repacked the bearings which were in good shape, replaced the wheel seal and all disposables. Overall it was almost too easy, though a long process. I did notice a couple things that I would like an opinion on.
At some point, the pads became unseated and cocked, with the rear edge of both inboard and outboard pads dropping down. The outboard pad was riding on the rotor hat and actually carved a groove in it. Is this a common thing? Is there something I can do to prevent it?
Im sure someone has thought of this, and as a technician I have no idea why I haven't thought of it before. I removed the brake line from the caliper before doing anything and used a vacuum cap to stop it from leaking everywhere and possibly draining the master. Just one of those duh...why didn't I ever think to do that before moments.
Lastly, when I removed the left rear axle it was bone dry. I know my fill plug is leaking slightly, evidenced by the dark area around it. Just want to ask which type and weight gear oil is best in my Disco?
