Color is hard to do from a monitor, I thought about going darker and maybe vinyl so it can be cleaned, someone did a camo one and that looked pretty cool.

Heard a grinding noise and the front brake pad on the inside is gone, ordered some cheap ones that I will install, really want to replace the rotors but I know it's a big job so will wait till the weather is better.

Ordered a **** ton of ATF to do a tranny full flush - she's making a high pitched whine and wont shift into 3rd and 4th gear 🤔 - Hope that works out... Side note someone told me to first try Sea Foam Trans Tune then do the flush.
Thoughts?

  • Ground off the bolts on the bottom of the washer reservoir
    • Pulled the old WS line and added a new one
    • Cleaned connections
    • Plugged the HL spray line and didn't plug that motor back in (I'll get to that someday)
    • WS sprayers working a little better. May replace the motor someday?
  • Got a 32mm wrench to flip the HD track bar
    • PO got an alignment done and the shop left the track bar hump facing down?
    • Figured out the right track rod end was left hand threaded after a few minutes...
  • Almost got my a-frame ball joint out. One bolt seized in the joint. One bushing joint bolt beyond my strength. I need a 1-1/8 wrench to remove the one stubborn bushing joint. Doesn't seem like 28mm wrenches are common enough.
    • Hope to get the other bushing joint out, remove the whole thing, and grind the seized ball joint bolt off.
  • Had a small exhaust leak in front of the mid-muffler. Spun clamp around and tightened. I swear it runs noticeably better!

Blower motor stopped working, but the auxiliary fans under the hood were still kicking on. I pulled and reseated the relay in the passenger footwell and all is well again. Since I was under there, I removed the squirrel cage to clean it out. Only found a small twig and a few leaves.

Had the ac system recharged a month or so ago and it's blowing nice cold air now.

What kinds tires we got there? I like that tread pattern, pizza cutters?

You gonna paint the wheels?

Like the old original brush guard, I had it on my 97' with Hella 550's, which i kept because I loves the rectangle look. That approach angle looks at least 6 inches less. Does that matter? Is this for Romp? Having a shop that big would be glorious. Really hope to get one when we move soon.

Some ancient Brit MTs, the firestones that came with it will be swapped on the old Defender wheels.
Going to sand blast and paint or powder coat the rims

Found the brush guard and lights next to my neighbors trash bin. This will be my daughter's 1st car. She chose it over a LR3. It definitely affected the approach angel a bit. For her it doesn't matter for now.

The shop is a work in progress. That is going on alongside going to work, home renovations, and working on trucks. Big milestone yesterday was roll up steel shop doors getting installed. Took a few hours and some friends but we knocked it out.

Romp is not likely in it's future. There is a thread over in the build thread section on this truck.
