So what did you do to your Disco today?
How long did it take you to do, I just replaced my pads which is pretty simple but I would like to do slotted/vented rotors like I did for my BMW and carbon pads, great stopping and no dust, it's hard enough to stop these monsters and I am afraid to do any real steep off roading.
The best 'upgrade' for the brakes on these trucks is to install D110 calipers in front which are a bolt in replacement and use non-vented rotors. The pistons are a bit larger. IIRC you can also use D-90 calipers and vented rotors but if you are taking the truck off road vented and slotted discs can create their own problems when encountering small rocks and such.
This thread can help.

D110 calipers have 46mm pistons (and larger pads)
Disco calipers have 41mm pistons (and use smaller pads)
The labor operations manual suggests 2.5hrs for both front rotors. On a lift with all the tools in order that sounds about right. On the ground with my tools in one bag it took me 4 hrs. I always get caught up cleaning up the sides of the caliper pistons and generally cleaning the heck out of everything. I don't do this stuff very often so I take my time to make sure I don't screw it up.

I had all of last week off.... paid vacation time!
-finished overhauling and sealing both sunroofs (appears to be leak-free at the moment!)
-got headliner back in
-hi-lift jack mounts installed in rear seat footwell
-Southdown snorkel installed

-more rust repair to left inner fender (yay side quest!)
-Sawz-all'd panhard rod bolts, pressed new bushings in... sometimes the socket just fits a bit too perfectly!

-installed steering guard and front diff guard

-swapped stereo amp w/ used replacement & installed CD deck - got tunes now! That Pioneer deck is from my first Jetta in high school back in '98.... so, technically period-correct even!

-replaced foam surrounds on factory subwoofers w/ new butyl rubber surrounds - got bass now!
-did a bit of 'soft-roading' with some folks

After my D2 got sideswiped and written off over a month ago, I just picked up a 1997 D1. Hard to find a decent vehicle out here in British Columbia that has not been trashed to the point that it might as well be considered a parts project. This one is not too bad, the main pain are the front seat adjustment buttons are not working.

Use care when removing the units from the side of the cubby, the tabs will break easily.
I lay out a white towel inside a cookie sheet so that little ball bearings and springs don't run away on me. It is important to keep them contained.
Bend the metal strips a bit to make better contact. They flatten out over time.
