Overdue oil change on the XD, and then the BRAND NEW URO fan blade exploded while my head was by the PS reservoir.... Had just enough time to block my face with my right arm. Chunks of the blade & both shrouds hit my arm. I have two massive bruises on my arm but I'll live. Blade completely sheared off from the metal. No lines were damaged but I had to replace the upper/lower shroud with my last good spare.

I also went with an OEM spare fan blade.... I went with a new one to prevent this and it did the exact opposite!!

Yeah it sucked and my right arm really hurts today. I also drove the XD today, and I stopped by to visit a friend and he was like DAMN dude what happened to your hood. On the RF side is a decent dent from the entire mess slamming into it which was the same force of the crap that hit my arm. I used a piece of wood and lightly tapped it down which it looks a lot better than it did minus the AA Paint that flew off upon impact and that was with the hood fully open.... Old gal is supposed to get trail damage not damage from poorly made fan blades!

Thanks for checking on me, very much appreciated

Got more tear down done with my daughter doing the wrenching. Another good day and we should be ready to send the heads off to the machine shop.

Ouch! Better to have some arm bruising than losing an eye. Get well soon.

Thanks yeah it was indeed a close call. Lucky the old gal only suffered a small dent in the hood vs what it could have been!

BTW here is a pic of the rubble. You can clearly see the entire fan blade assembly left the metal piece 100% which then destroyed both shrouds (which gave their lives for all the hoses). The brand new radiator also got away without a scratch on it!

My arm feels better today, but it looks awful 2 huge bruises that are that lovely dark yellow, greenish blue/purple lol.
