So what did you do to your Disco today?
Harvir, thanks. It was one epic trip for sure. Of the 8,000 miles we did I’d say at least a third if not more of them were off-road trails. My wife and I counted only five days of the entire 7 week trip we did not drive off-road.
No major issues with the Disco the entire trip so that’s a plus. One day out on a trail we jump back in and it wouldn’t start. I popped the hood open, looked around and just let it sit for about five minutes and off we went. Never happened again. Had some odd pending codes on the UltraGauge. All Evap codes IIRC, they dismissed themselves. Removed the rear sway bar off in Moab as it was squeaking because one of the mounts had broken. Going to put it back one as we do a lot of highway miles and it does get “tippy”.
The water temp average was 176°. I saw 168° as the lowest driving to 196° as the highest but was on a trail steep uphill but cooled back down quickly.
Best MPG was 14.9 and worst was 10.2. Lots of 10-14° or more grades and headwinds.
All in all, the Disco preformed flawlessly. Going to change out ALL the fluids and get it ready for the next big adventure.

Tried a battery charger on my 99 D1, found up the pos cable on the charger was broken. Wouldn't charge the battery and the sticker on the battery says 12/19 so I replaced it when the wife got home (to use her vehicle) New battery goes in tomorrow and we'll see if it starts. Only 7 inches of snow so it should be fine.
Update : temp is up to 19 degrees so I installed the new battery, Let the fuel pump run until it shut off, and it started right up!! Jacked up the trailer and pushed it sideways a couple of times to move it over, and drove right out around the house and into the street. It did get a bit cool but I'll survive. Of course the heater fan quits on high, nothing new, but if I cycle it a few times it starts working. I do have a spare one around here somewhere, probably in my LR Spares box. I gotta admit, this thing is dependable!! Always starts (It has been parked under the pine tree or about 5 months) hardest part was getting the tarp off.

UPDATE My youngest son 'borrowed' my HHR as his Trailhawk started to make a horrendous noise and he didn't have the funds to fix it. That was back in the end of November and I haven't goten it back yet. (beginning of March) no idea when I will get it back.... In the meantime, I took my D1 out of it's hiding spot and have been driving it ever since. No troubles in below zero temps, been running just fine. Hopefully I will get my HHR back. Having fun !! lots of people asked about how old it is and are impressed with it's looks. Best $600 I ever spent 8 years ago!!
It is pretty amazing, I had a guy jump out in the middle of the parking lot at the grocery store and start taking pictures of my D1, saying they are so rare, he had an accent so from some other country. Even when I stop and get gas people always comment how cool it looks. She just keeps running here in the PNW, I think the cooler weather probably helps that aluminum engine live. My D1 keeps my BMW convertible in the garage all winter, she takes a muddy rock thrown beating but keeps on going.
My son broke down with my HHR, turns out he installed the starter with one wire missing.. He ended up with my D1 and when leaving work, a rather fine looking office worker stopped him to complement his ride. She has never said 2 words to him but made a point about saying she didn't know he drove a Land Rover.. especially a classic like this.... I think my son is in trouble with his girlfriend.....
