So what did you do to your Disco today?
This past weekend, front pads & rotors. Glad that is done. Ready for summer driving season.
I've come to realize that it is the 'little stuff' that takes most of my time. Getting all the old paper gasket off the drive hub, cleaning the caliper pistons thoroughly before compressing them, cleaning all the threads on bolts, etc, etc. If it were only as easy as "tear down, re-assemble" jobs would take half the time.

Had to replace a flaky A/C switch (button on the dash). The entire damn dash has to come out. Annoying when every other switch simply pulls straight out.
Anyway, not hard, but was pretty paranoid about cracking any of that fragile old plastic. It worked out.

Of course the day after I get the job done, the orange light on the re-circ button decides to burn out. I can hear the movement behind the dash so I am convinced the button actually functions, but it is just the indicator light which has bitten the dust.
What a freeking joke. At least I know how to do the job if I want to rectify it. I can't win.

Everything.Today i chased down every gremlin and prevailed. At this moment everything works.
Fixed bad ground behind kick to get all dash cluster to work.Ran down engine code to see why check engine light was on,Turned out vacuum advance canister went bad and i found 1 30 min. away replaced it reset computer and lights off.put in a couple tail light bulbs,Cleaned a couple connections and all running lights work now.Changed brake pads front and rear no more grind.Easiest brake job i have ever done on any auto. That's it for today.A couple days ago i put a replacement transfer case in and new exhaust.I did take the broken shift assembly out and tossed it in the heap.I locked the high low in high on the transfer case (i never once shifted in low in any 4x4 in my life) and sealed the hole with some sheet metal and foam.Replaced the carpet and put console back in.
DONE AND I LOVE THIS NEW TO ME D1.

I encountered an unusual problem that took me a month to figure out, and maybe it will help someone else. I installed a new distributor a few years back, cheap unbranded one from ebay (with Lucas vac advance) but appeared solid enough and worked fine. After replacing the valley pan, I couldn't start the truck, and everything seemed fine, spark, fuel, etc. I just discovered that the rotor can be turned to any angle by hand! Due to a slipping joint at the bottom of the upper shaft that holds the rotor (I'm not talking about the centrifugal advance here). Must have knocked it out of alignment during my last repair and it was WAY off. I didn't work on the distributor, so I didn't think to check this for a while. So if you're at wits end, you may want to check your static timing even if you didn't disturb the distributor!
