The more I dig into all this stuff, the more I learn.

Eric, where did the price on the Y-pipe come from?

Slang, when I first looked at the MAF and read about the heated wire, I thought they were talking about the filter screen in the front. Once I figured it out, it was simple. Made a heck of a difference in how it ran and the codes tripped.

For the firt time in years, mine is currently CODE FREE.

Danny....thanks for all that stuff. It's been super helpful. I'll do the throttle body cleaning first and then the plug and wire change. I have to wait on the plugs anyway.

The MAF, I will wait on a little.

I remember looking at that damn filter screen and wondering how the hell they heated it up. Finally I asked and Cosmo (Cosmic) gave all the details, it in one of my earlier MAF threads on here. Once I figured out to take the front screen out, it became real obvious. The very front is a separate ring that holds the screen in place.

The key is making sure the element is not hot, it heats immediately when engine is started. And you let it drain and dry completely, so when you do it allow lots of time. Someone said they use blow dryer.

OK. Got my package o' plugs from AB. Ready to roll.

Got to do that throttle body and MAF first. Looking forward to seeing the results. See if I can get rid of 1313 and maybe even the tick..why not? Although I'm still betting on the timing chain/front cover. But at least I'm crossing off the list items.

Make sure you use Throttle Body cleaner, and not carb or brake cleaner on the MAF and throttle body. The others can be too harsh and pull moisture from plastic and rubber causing cracking.

I have the throttle body cleaner ready to go. I thought I needed to find MAF cleaner for the MAF?? It's the CRC (?) stuff from PEP BOYS.

MAF cleaner and TB cleaner should work for either, unless the TB cleaner is also a lubricant. Then you don't want to use it. No need for lube on the MAF. CRC TB cleaner is a cleaner and lube in one. Best to not use it on the MAF.

I bought the CRC MAF Cleaner Spray and it worked fine. I do not remember the brand name of the TB Spray.
