Default ‘04 D2 Inside Rear View Mirror Replacement

My rear view mirror is broken and I’m trying to replace it, but I’m not seeing where the wiring connector is. I’ve removed the whole arm from the windshield bracket and the wiring runs up into the headliner but I’m hoping there’s an easier way to access it.

Any advice?

from memory, the connector can be accessed if you remove the cabin light or something similar in that vicinity.

Crack open the plastic clamshell trim.

The mirror has a connector underneath the plastic trim on the mirror base & another one further up in the headliner. If you are swapping the mirror the exact same one = same lower plug.

If I’m understanding you correctly, the plastic arm that has the ball and socket on one end (that connects to the mirror) has a plug inside the plastic arm. This would allow me to disconnect it from there rather than going under the headliner?

I have to get the windshield replaced soon so I’m trying to figure this out and replace the mirror myself.

Thanks.

Yeppers. Just stick a screw driver between the seam in the plastic housing to separate it and expose it’s contents. Be careful not to pinch wires on reassembly.
