Default 04 D2 Wont start after dead battery recharge.

Hi all,

2004 D2 SE7

I left my key in position 2 all night and ran the battery down. After recharging the battery, I tried to start it and it would turn over, but not start. I tried cycling the key lock 3 times but it did not work.

Its like its not getting fuel but I figure it has something to do with the security system.

Any thoughts ??

Thanks,

Jeff

-I'm not sure if the fuel pump stays powered with the key in the on position like that but if it does then maybe you burned up the pump. Check the fuses first and listen back by the pump while someone turns the key to the on position. Can you hear the pump?

- check to see if you have spark

I checked the fuel relay and the inertia switch.

Whats the best way to check for spark?

Thanks,
Jeff

It may be the last immobilization cycle was retained when the battery weakened, considering the key was in place and turned on. No guarantee, but turn the switch on as before, then remove the positive battery cable and ground it to discharge the ecu. Try a restart. Note there is neither spark or fuel if immobilized.

Hi all,

I unhooked the battery and let it reset for a while. Hooked it back up and it started right up. lol Wish I would have done that first, instead of everything else.

Thanks for the help.

Jeff

Thanks for the update. I read that the fuel pump only stays on for a short time if the key is left on. FYI
