The Rotella T6 Synthetic, is in a navy blue 1 gallon jug and is the most readily synthetic diesel oil available on the market. O'Reily Auto Parts, Advanced Auto will both carry the Rotella usually around $29.99/gallon and as cheap as $19.99/gallon. Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 and Chevron Delo 400 5W-40 synthetic are also very good choices if you're wanting to run the heavy duty engine oils. For regular passenger car synthetics that will perform very well is the Mobil 1 0W-40 and Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40, both are great choices. Also, if you are using a cheap oil filter it can result in increased engine noise. M1 Extended Performance filters are spendy but are very high in quality, OEM, Bosch and Purolator filters are all very good as well.
I have always used Elf/Total synthetics in my Audi. But being new to the Rover world I am open to Other brands. Rotella t6 look great, but I can't find the heavier 15w40 in the blue bottle. I can only find regular Dino rotella and t6 in the 5w40.. I need to change the oil this weekend. I wonder here else I can look, or am I looking for some thing That doesn't exit?

The Rotella T6 is not available in a 15W-40, only 5W-40. The Rotella T Triple Protection is only available in the 15W-40 form and is a conventional motor oil (non syn). The 5W-40 based on viscosity numbers alone will be a better oil for your car. Also, the larger number difference between the xW (cold start visc)- and the second number (operating temp visc) is also another indication of the higher quality of the base oil you're buying.

At a cold start up the 5W oil will flow more efficiently to the upper parts of the engine that are starving for oil while both retain the same operating temperature viscosity (40).

As to the Total oils... Very good oils too. Their synthetic oils are really good and are available at a reasonable price. Here in the US, Total oils are very hard to come by typically so buying from one of the more well known oil companies is probably a better bet based on that.
