The springs themselves are NOT interchangeable, especially front to rear.
They are not the same, but they are interchangable. I have 10s of thousands of miles on multiple discos I've lifted in the front with spare rear springs.
I don't think I want to lift 3.5" .Wife is already grumbling (in her own sweet manner) about getting in and out. 2" -2.5" inch max. As Ive stated before, I plan on taking the LR to Moab in OCT. Normally I take Dual sports but last year they were all stolen in Dever (F-ing rat bastages) ...Any way...LR, wife and I will be Overlanding this year. So Ive ordered the inline thermo, Im buying tires (advise please), lifting (please advise), Thinking about the coil relocation kit (what a crappy factory set up) plus completing all required maintenance. Ive owed the LR for about 10 years. I've rebuilt the engine (7 years ago). Rebuilt DS with greaseable zerks. Trails I plan on taking will be White Rim, Chicken Corner, Onion Creek. With some on La Sal Mt that are a bit more aggressive. about 10 days of random camping/ hoteling .Any advice will be much appreciated.
For your particular use, I think a spacer lift would be adequate but if you have the extra scratch the Terrafirma 2" medium duty kit would be a bonus with the added weight of a roof top tent and gear. If you go with spacers make sure you also get some shock extensions for the rear shocks to equal your spacer height so you are not limiting your articulation.
As for tire recommendations, are you looking for an AT or am MT? I am a big proponent of the Falken Wildpeaks. Both AT and MT, both fantastic. I've also had the Firestone MTs and I think they're also a very good tire, I would have either but I think I lean towards the Falkens. Both are pretty quiet for a mud tire. For a more budget option, I've also ran Centennial mud tires that I was impressed with - the sidewalls are a bit thin and they're a bit louder, but they perform very well for the price. Skip the Americus Rugged MTs, they don't clear out well - unimpressed with the performance. I've personally not been impressed with the BFG AT (for the price) and I've never run their MT, but the terrain is totally different out there than here on the east coast and some folks love them. I'd personally go with Falkens over BFG, considering my experiences with each. Take that for what you will.
As for tire size/lift combinations - I don't have the link off hand, but follow the link in my signature. You should be able to find a list where I compiled a ton of info on various lift/tire size combos. That should help you pick the size you want.

Any more questions, ask away.
Your a gentleman, scholar, judge of fine liquor. Thank you, just the direction I needed. Any source for the shock extensions or should I fab it

My wife will be amazed at the titles I've earned today!
I always fabbed mine, but just as easy and nearly as cheap to just go on eBay and order a set of 2" shock extensions for a 99-06 Silverado that will bolt on.
If you'd prefer to fab, I've included a picture of my solution if you can see thru the mud. Just a couple pieces of 1.5" flat strap cut to length (probably 4" pieces for a 2" lift) and welded onto the lower shock mounts. Cut the welded on nut off, drill a hole thru, bolt the shock back in place and tack the nut back into your extension tab.
