Haha you were lucky my friend!!!! indeed there are some great people on this site!!!
You have to get the ball and put everything back together and then i would take it to get balanced again before install.
Cost for a new one= $300 if you purchase one from me and that includes shipping and 8 new ny-lock nuts and then you just have to install it! Our shaft is a up-grade from the stock, we use higher quality parts than you will find at the local auto parts store!
Let me know threw a pm if you would like to get one and I will get right back to you! We are about 3-5 days for shipping normal business days!

Because of financial reasons (I already have the u-joints) I am considering this part to rebuild the front drive shaft on my 2001 D II SE . Any suggestions?

There's a sticky that covers rebuilding propshafts with part numbers and proper greasing information.

Default 2000 disco II/ driveshaft chirping questions

The part I am missing is the centering ball. So I would be replacing the u-joints and ball. I found this site (link below) for the ball and I want to be sure this is what I need for my '01 Disco II SE.

I checked out the sticky, veru helpful. I don't think autozone carries the u-jonts part number 1-0005 anymore.

I am finding the parts (u-joints, centering ball) on this site. How do I tell if they are made in the US or China.

The Neapco 1-0005 are USA made by Neapco. But other stores (like autozone) sell chinese u-joints that use the same PN.
Precision 344(?) are USA made but some places, like O'Reilly, also sell chinese made that use the same PN.

Its going to be a task for you to find the correct USA made parts because your buying just one. I don't have that issue because I buy in bulk directly.
