Default 2000 Disco oil cooler bypass.

One of my oil cooler lines into the rad has a pin hole in and is spraying oil everywhere. I lost a quart pretty quickly. I work out of town and need to limp the truck home. Can I bypass this systems temporarily, If so what plugs do I need to plug the lines after removing them.

Yes, you can use normal oil pan plugs on the front cover

So to clarify, just the oem pan plugs will work? I didn’t have much time to poke around under the hood because I was running out of daylight.

No, it’s a different size than the Disco pan plug, but Auto parts store should have them.

When I installed my oil pressure gauge the adaptor was used in one of the cooler ports, Detailed below. So would think a plug @ M20 P 1.5

M20 P-1.5 Male to 1/8-27 NPT Female Thread Adapter

Yeah after some digging that’s that what I found, I’m gonna be able to fix it and I’ll verify that Saturday. Instilling a pressure gauge sounds interesting but that’s one more thing to be paranoid about. I’ve got enough woes being neurotic about the coolant temp.

Are you sure you can just plug those lines? Doesn’t most of the oil go through them continuously?

Several years of the D2 didn't even have an oil cooler. It's on a bypass circuit.

4.6 D2s came with plugged oil cooler ports from the factory. The bypass is to protect the cooler against over pressure. Without there is no bypass needed.

M20 1.5 works. I picked them up at oreilys for 3.99 a piece. Make sure you get them tight and check for leaks. So far so good.
