Default 10-26 Update

Got the idler pulley on. Things quieted down a bit but I still have a squeaking rattle I need to find. Also got the rear bumper on which was an all day affair. Really nice and solid and tight tolerances from Dark Crow Designs.

I hate cutting the Rover but had to do it to fit the bumper.

Default 11/2 Update

Still chasing the rattling noise in my engine compartment. Replacing the idler pulley did not resolve it so I will be pulling the belt back off and trying to find another loose pulley. Hopefully it’s not the harmonic balancer.

I finished bolting the rear bumper to the wheel well attach points and that seemed to give it even more stability. Also added the tow hitch back. So this sub-project is now officially complete!

Now onto the rain gutters and the fuel door latch!

Anybody need any slightly used bumper parts?

Truck looks really good, and those bumpers Will sell.
Undamaged stock bumpers are hard to come by.

Really?!? I was just going to throw them out with the garbage! PM me if you want them and I’ll hold them.

Thanks, but I don't need them.
But, I would hang on to them, or at least post them here for sale or trade.
The majority of these bumpers crack, split, or have some kind of damage.
Decent ones are hard to come by, and people are looking for good ones.
It'll be a few bucks back and/or parts you need, vs just trashing them.

Default New Idler Pulley

Still chasing chirps and squeaks on this thing. I replaced the other idler pulley and greased the drive shafts. We’ll see if this quiets things down a bit more.

Default 11/16 Update

The new idler pulley seems to have quieted down the front end squeak at acceleration. I’m going to call that issue resolved. I have two others I have been working through. One issue is SAI related. Getting p1412, p1415 and p0441. I had already replaced the PCV valve with the Hyundai part but still getting these errors. I checked all the connections and no broken or loose tubing. Next step was a smoke test. I rigged an pump and a cigar to the intake and found two issues. One was a simple hose clamp tightening. The other was some sort of sensor next to the pcv (need to research this thing). You can see smoke pouring out of it which I would expect should not happen and indicates a vacuum leak. Thoughts?

Sealing the intake

Full set up

Just needed to tighten this one

This connector poured out smoke

Need to research this

"12V", looks like a solenoid enabling vacuum to the SAI valve.

Yeah your right. Not sure if if actually failed though. The cap on the end seems like it is designed to release pressure rather than being loose. For now I just cleaned it out with some break cleaner, reset the codes and we'll see what happens.

Common point of failure in the SAI system.

Most people just replace them... $60 at AB.
