It has a very stout adhesive on the back. The fiberglass layer in the middle acts as a sound deadened and an air gap.

And it's interior/exterior then?

Typically only used for exterior. Here's a link to the actual product. It's expensive but I can't believe how effective it is. The temps of my seat rails used to be 118F Now they are 87F. I wish I could line the whole underneath of my truck with this stuff!

That is a huge sound decrease, each 10db is roughly half as much sound

Thanks, I will be using this(either on this D2 or if I replace the frame or whole truck/frame has now had it)

Yeah I was pretty blown away by it. To be fair, I was missing a big chunk of heat shield to begin with so that is probably why it is so pronounced. Not sure folks would get the same results if they were replacing existing.

Default 2/24 Update

Truck is running great! Got a few nagging issues I am still working through. I am still fighting the P0441 error which doesn’t look like it has any impact on performance but I hate the nagging yellow light. I had already replaced the purge valve and the vacuum control solenoid and performed a smoke test but the error keeps coming back after a week. I decided to add some clamps to my vacuum tubes to see if that would help. In doing so I found that the maf hose was partially off the intake so maybe that was the issue? In any case I readjusted and tightened in and installed the clamps.

I also had some leftover DEI heat shielding so I installed that around my starter and my crank position sensor.

CKP wrap

Starter wrap

Next items on my list are as follows:
  1. fix slow power steering leak
  2. fix various slow oil leaks
  3. send oil out for analysis
  4. fix curling dash

I use zip ties on those lines, mine are pretty worn and tend to come loose with a bump. like the clamps though what size are they ?

Yeah I read somewhere that zip ties don’t apply even pressure around the tubing and can prevent a good seal. I found these spring clips on amazon which should provide even pressure around the tubing.
