Question 2004 Disco cranking wont start

2004 Disco 92Kmiles, wife called said wont start, it was low on fuel.
brought 1 gallon, cranking but wont start, Service Engine Soon light will go off while cranking.
After reading all postings replaced CPS, now engine starts for few seconds and dies like starving on fuel, but now when I crank "S" coming on the dashboard what does it mean?
With mt wife's help, she put into II position tried to hear pump, no noise coming up even for few seconds. Please help we need a car for daily work routine....

First you need to check for spark, remove a spark plug, reattach the plug wire and have your wife try and start the engine while you see if there is spark.
Do not hold onto the spark plug while doing this.
If no spark it is the crank sensor.
If you do have spark it is the fuel pump.

(S) is sport mode, activated by mode switch on center console just behind transmission selector and gear display - press to toggle - probably not related to your issue.

Go put a few more gallons in the tank and tell your wife if she drives it that low again she will be back on a bike for the next few months.
My money is on still being to low for the pump to prime itself and or she burned up the pump.

new bosch pump is about 380$, on ebay there is installation kit for less then 100$,
which is better buy the kit and assemble on old assembly by replacing the pump only?
or just buy new pump?
