Usually when you have ground faults, or even intermittent shuttle valve switch faults from corroded wiring those won't trigger hard faults. Usually those 3 amigo's will clear with a key cycle. It's the ABS sensor faults which will trigger a hard faults which would require a scantool to clear.

Thank you - so it looks like the amigos are gone for me, at least for now, since they've been off and I've done enough driving where I'd normally see the amigos (usually 5-15 minutes into a drive). I'm relieved this issue didn't extend to anything else in my case - just lucky. Thanks again

Default Drive with SVS removed temporarily?

Today I finally got around to beginning the Option B fix for my 2000 D2. I decided to go this route because I have intermittent 3 amigos showing maybe 50% of the time. Code reader shows a handful of grounding faults, and the amigos can always be cleared by turning the vehicle off and then on.

After removing the SVS I found all of the insulation completely gone from the switch wiring, and the copper badly corroded. Mine somehow looks even worse than the image in post #293. I've decided to order a new WABCO SVS unit, which I will perform the Option B fix on before installing, as a preventative measure.

My question is Can I drive the vehicle with the SVS removed while I wait for the new one to arrive? Will it just behave like it normally does with the 3 Amigos lit, or will there be a chance of brake fluid leakage, or something else I haven't considered? Doing this with the unit in place I can't really see what's going on down there.

Default Svs

I would leave it in there. There are seals there related to the brake fluid. Seems removing those would be bad. But they are also not high pressure seals, so maybe they are ancillary?

I see no reason not to leave it in.

All: while this is an older post I was searching for solutions for the 3 amigos issue on my 02 DII that came on after I did a full brake replacement (front caliper siezed in drivers side so replaced both just to make sure). If you come up against this issue I found another way to clear the codes which is a cheaper and more usefull tool as it does'nt just help with the 3 amigos problem and it is cheaper!
