Alternator interchange
Yes,only a small gamble. Even bigger reason is no one could have a new one in for a few days (had to happen on a weekend) Of course, Ft Myers does have a Land Rover dealer. But even if they had one in stock, it'd probably cost more than my cars worth, lol
03-04 as shown above were indeed the Valeo 120 amp model but when mine died on me earlier this year I selected the Bosch 150 amp model from Pep Boys over the 120 Valeo and it was a direct fit and has been running fine ever since.
Well, I scored one off an '00 for $19 and change at a UPull it. The only thing different is the big main cable attachment was not in the same spot. It just required a little cable rerouting and good as new.
We just replaced an alternator on our '04 D2. The one we pulled was a 130amp.
AutoZone told us it was an Voltage Regulator. We pulled it, replaced the VR and still had an idiot light for lack of charge when reinstalled.
I replaced the 130amp with a 150amp after several positive threads were received here on the forums. Thus far, no issues...
This is a great place for the best answers on things LR...without hesitation.
Cheers mate,
