Default Axle Replacement - Upgrade

Hey guys,

I'm getting some seriously gross grinding from the left front wheel area under acceleration. It's also pretty pronounced during a right hand turn. The mechanic thinks it's the CV joint/axle. Car is at 170k miles with the originals, so not a huge surprise.

I would like to upgrade to the Ashcroft units sold my lucky8. Is there anything else in addition to the kit that I should replace while we're in there. Just did ball joints/control arms... anything else? Seals, etc?

Thanks,

E

@gte619n Check the hub, it is more likely to have failed. If you upgrade the axle you will need new hubs, and you will need to replace the diff pin, ideally with an upgraded unit.

@gte619n yup, the hub replacement is more about age. But when I had a grinding noise in my front end it was a hub.

I cannot find the site that had a better pin, so it may not be an issue

Lucky8 guys confirmed that Ashcroft kit is great, and new wheel hubs come with the bears. I'm going to slam this stuff in. Thanks for the help!
