I know they have had bad rap here, but I still buy Optima Batteries. Friend of mine is battery rep for Continental Battery and purchased 1 for 149.00. My 07 has 2 in it and they are 5 years old. I want to share an experience I had prior to installing the battery. I installed a Pioneer AVH4000NEX DVD head unit, several months ago. Last month, while playing a song or movie, the sound would mute for a few seconds, then go back to normal. It got very annoying, and i figured my OEM amp was about to go. The battery was old and leads were corroded, so I cleaned them up and got the new battery. The annoying mute problem is gone.

Optimas are hated with good reason. 10 years ago they were the best battery on the market, but then they moved their production out of the US and into Mexico and quality control hit the ****ter. I had one last year, a nice yellow top. It lasted 6 months before it died. Switched to an the AutoCraft and never looked back.

I will note, I saw a noticable stereo clarity increase with an AGM over a lead acid. I doubt it would be noticable on a stock system, but if you've got an upgraded sound system then I'd go AGM solely for that reason.

I'd also heard around that Optima had taken a 'dive' in quality so much so that they aren't now recommended on many LR websites or in mags

Seems there are a few people that claim this battery isn't good in the cold.

Sears.com

Still havnt got round to finding something that has a decent CCA, with the posts the right way round, that is AGM, that works in the cold.

The Odyssey Battery are a great replacement for the Optima battery, they have crazy cranking amperage in a small package

The AutoCraft AGM 65 I listed has 750 cca and has the posts the right way around. Some people say you need more than that, but honestly I used it in negative 12 degree weather last winter and it cranked plenty fast.
