Default Chevy Teflon valve stem seals

are Small block Chevy Teflon valve stem seals interchangeable with the Land Rover stock seals on my 4.6L heads? I’m diagnosing a major oil consumption issue on my fresh rebuild narrowed down to what I think is the the valve stem seals. The valve guides were replaced too. My shop firmly believes its not the valve stem seals and Teflon is preferred. Are they right? Anyone do this?

The photo is oil pooled on top of the intake valve

Do you have similar pooling on all the intake valves? If so I would look at the PCV system not the valve guides or stem seals.

You stated this was a fresh rebuild. Unless the valve stem seals were hugely oversized along with incorrect valve stem guide to stem clearance, you shouldn't see this issue. Even worn out, hard as a rock, 100k miles between oil change, valve stem seals wouldn't cause oil to sit on top of the valve. consumption of oil, yes. Not waist deep pooling.

again, just my $.02

I’m going to mod the line from the passenger side valve cover to the intake with an inline PCV and completely remove the crappy OEM worm looking baffle.

" Even worn out, hard as a rock, 100k miles between oil change, valve stem seals wouldn't cause oil to sit on top of the valve. consumption of oil, yes. Not waist deep pooling." Exactly. A decent rebuild would not create this problem. Someone did a lousy rebuild, I suspect.

Yes, all intake valves that are closed. I assume on the open valves it drained to the piston.

PCV temporarily bypassed and using a breather in valve cover so I could rule that out. Then I suspected sucking oil under the valley pan so I siliconed it and when I pulled it apart, I believe it was sealed. New valve guides.

Please explain what is meant by a lousy rebuild. I’m grasping for anything here. The engine runs fantastic but using 1 quart per 100 miles.

What are other sources of oil pooling like that? The pooled oil is clean, not black as it appears in the pic.

*update* DO NOT USE TEFLON CHEVY VALVE STEM SEALS! I wasted months of my life chasing a major oil consumption problem. The shop swears they are the same which I agree, they appear to seal tight but changing them out solved my oil consumption issue immediately.
