Default coolant in sump

I know my motor is toast since last November. Haven't checked dipstick until today. Coolant has migrated into sump without engine running. How could this happen?? Still saving for a "Turner engine".

Head gasket or cracked head or block allowed coolant into cylinders.
Truck sat, coolant seaped past the rings, and/or out of a crack in a cylinder wall, drained right down into the oil pan.

How do you know the motor is toast? How do you know it's not just the HGs?

No coolant from exhaust. Always disappeared somewhere, until I checked dip stick. then I realized the disaster. Coolant into sump. Cracked block.

Can’t coolant leak into a cylinder from the HG and then past the rings into the sump?

Im just saying it may be worth checking out before you buy a whole new engine. HG job is much cheaper than an engine swap. Unless you want the engine for peace of mind, then right on!

Remove the oil filter and the coolant hose that goes into the lower intake.
Pour water into the hose/intake and if it pours out where the oil filter goes, then its a front cover gasket.

Before I parked it, pressure build up in reservoir would leak out coolant. Yes, new cap. Then after a week, coolant would disappear into sump, causing motor to get a little warm. If that sounds like front gasket, then I will do this test this weekend.
Thanks guys for the help.
