After getting everything taken apart, it is clear that the Crankshaft pulley was the reason for the major oil leak.. I cleaned this thing off, but it looks wierd.. Are there supposed to by ridges on the shaft like this?? I was expecting the thing to be completely smooth... Down below the line on there, is kind of ridgy! not smooth as I expected it to be...

Ill get the rest of the oil and stuff cleaned up, but I don't want to put it all back together if this thing is not right..

You are correct the harmonic balancer shaft should be smooth or the crankshaft seal will not seat. You will need to either replace the H Balancer or use a Speedi-Sleeve. The Speedi Sleeve from SKF is #99192. And get a CORTECO Crankshaft seal # ERR6490G.


Don't try to sand/ mill off the grooves in your balancer!!! If you do just toss the balancer in the garbage.

If there is only one groove, you can put a new seal a few mm further in on the front cover so the seal rides on the shaft in a different spot

 

You mean tap the seal in farther into the block??

OK I got that, but the pulley is now not going back on very easily... do I need to lube it up to slide it back into the seal??

Also make sure the seal on your cam position sensor is solid, if not it can leak onto the crank pulley and make it look like you have a leak below when it's really above

 

you might want to spin it and get the grooves out of it.
well at least get the crud out of the grooves.

The way it looks now it will rip the seals.

IMHO there are two issues on an HB, one is the grooves formed by the oil seal and the second is the condition of the laminating rubber holding the two halves together. If the rubber is OK you can spin the pulley in a lathe and polish the area with fine emery paper/cloth and, as Abran says, set the oil seal deeper, further in so the lip of the seal doesn't run on the same groove or near it or failing that junk the pulley for a new one.
