Default CV Joint??

I've noticed lately when I make sharp, slow turns I hear a faint noise. At first it sounded like tire ***** rubbing on my bumper (just added new tires) but that's not it. I checked my boots on the CV joints and they aren't torn, but I have to assume for now that is the problem.

I don't have any other symptoms. No clunking or thunking. Just that faint noise.

Anyone have a favorite source for CV joints? Ideas on price?

Check, Atlantic British, Rover Connection and talk to Bill at Great Basins Rover, these would be your better palces to go that have good quality cv joints made heavt enough to handle the requirements of your D 2.

Mike, can you give me an idea on what range of prices I'm looking at? What's "cheap" and what constitutes the price of a top quality or upper level CV joint?

ALSO - is there anything else I should be replacing with these CV joints while I'm down there?

Cheap is in the $150 to $200 range, good ones in the $200 plus area, you;ll need to call around. If you have any questions after calling, get back to me.

CV joints usually wear on only on side (since you drive forward most of the time) - so putting them back together backwards is like having new ones - for free!

I would no recommend doing the last suggestion, if the CV joint is bad replace it, don't chance a possible fix to keeping you on the road.
