Default Dip Stick bolt/screw size...

Does anyone know the size of the bolt that hols the dipstick tube to the head, by the valve cover gasket? Thanks!

It's more like a sheet metal screw. It's tapered and super coarse thread. Mine is gone as well.

I've been meaning to look this up for months... Thanks for posting the q.

Koop, odd that yours was like a sheet metal screw. Mine was more like a machine screw if I remember correctly. I'd guess around an M6-1.00 size, though I couldn't say for sure. Been months since I've seen mine.

My memory could be off. I might have a skewed perception of it because I despise the little bastard. I documented and organized every single piece of my top end when I put in head gaskets, and that little SOB is the one piece I lost. It got its own labeled zip-loc and everything.

Tapered course thread in my experience. There is another location on the engine that bolt is used but I can't remember where.

No worries, the first time I replaced one of these I thought someone used a wood screw.
You can find these at Home Depot too.
