Disable SAI 2004
I'm in the midst of my headgasket job on my new-to-me 2004 disco, and the passenger side SAI metal pipe assembly going in to the head twisted up and mangled itself on removal. I have access to Autologic, is there a way to disable SAI through it? is my only option replacing the ECU with a non-SAI ECU? Any ideas on cost to replace that pipe? I have not yet looked
No disabling it as it is hardwired in. Your choices are
1 . Get a new tube
2. Delete your sai and clear your code once a week
3. Delete your sai and find a matched set of ecu, bcu, gauge cluster from a non said and swap in

Someone welded the SAI bolts shut and removed the SAI pipes on my Disco 2 andthe motor runs just fine. It will throw an SAI code every now and again, but that's meaningless.
I did this. Also pulled the cluster and put some tape over the back of the service engine light. Nobody else will likely ever own this truck, so no issue.
Yeah in TX if you live in an OBDII county if any of the OEM equipment is bypassed, if there is a pending fault present, CEL light, or it fails the probe test = fails. They also have to have like 2-3 ready status.
SAI isn’t a big deal, I’d personally replace the pipe & move on if it wasn’t giving you issues before.
I live where they just look at the wiper blades, the head lights, and “maybe” the ebrake and send you on your way lol. Explains the crap I see out on the roads for sure!
