Default Disco II service help

Hello everyone. I have an 03 discovery and over the last few days it has randomly died and has been hard to restart after this occurs. When it dies I am at low speeds and it almost seems to kick down. Also, the green S which signifies the car is in sport mode flashes along with a green M. Was hoping you all would be able to help me out with this problem. Thanks for any help

1 or 2 things going on, your crank position sensor is most likely failing which is causing the start/stall problem. I would also have a local parts store do a free charging system test, at idle and under full load, your voltage must be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts, if under that this can cause the flashing lights.
How mechanical are you?

As DM says, the CKP sensor could be a prime suspect. It has to cool off to re-crank. You can pull a plug wire and check for sparks when cranking, no sparks is a stong indicator of that sensor. Pour cold water or blow compressed air on the sensor to reset quicker. Rear of engine, driver side, deep down.
