Default Disco2 Purge Valve Ticking

My Purge valve on my Disco 2 (182K miles) is ticking, sometime it does not tick, sometimes it ticks at let's say 1x speed, sometime it ticks at 2X speed.

First: I assume it should not tick at all, is the purge valve faulty or is something else making the purge valve tick?

Coincidentally I have fault codes for left side SAI leak, I also have the SAI start running when I pull up at a stop light and site there for a while. Based on what I read I think this is because the SAI passive test was unsuccsessful.

Is it possible that the coputer is trying to do a passive SAI test and that cuases the ticking?

New purge valve is $65 so not a major expense, but I don't see any reason to change something if it ain't broke.

Any thoughts?

Do you have a fault code for the purge valve, if not I am pretty sure it is just doing it's thing and it can be intermitent.

No, no codes associated with the purge valve, the codes I have are SAI leak codes. Waiting on the SAI relay to see if that helps, but I suspect I have an SAI solonoid valve leaking.

Thanks for your help.

You would have an evap code if the purge was malfunctioning.

Maybe it is also an oil pump tick..... might want to do a mechanical PSI test. Murphy's Law says you can have both.
