Engine replacement questions...
#11
Well...
Im happy to report, I just walked in the door from picking up the Discovery after replacing the engine...I'm SOOOOOO HAPPY I went this route instead of trying to mess with the 4.6, so let me recap for you guys who might be thinking of this as a solution to your sleeve problem..
Expenses
$1050 - Used 2002 4.0 Litre w/42k miles (carfax verified) w/SAI included shipping to shop
$900 - Removal of 4.6 and Install of 4.0 used motor
$1950 total cost and the truck runs so quiet on the way home I had to look at the RPM gauge to make sure it was still running....Im used to hearing it ticking!
This was hands down the best money spent on repairs after reading so many horror stories. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone else with a ticking motor...

There you go..
There you go ...problem solved...no lost day, nights, sleep ..nerves about to explode.... I did the same but a tad more as i did a few more things.. Now you can enjoy driving it instead of be miserable trying to repair it...You can go on to outfit it like most should be doing instead of trying to reinvent the wheel...
You will be one of the smart ones enjoying your weekend like myself......

The motor is SUPER clean and drives like a 60k mile truck should again (no ticking). I will say it again, if your motor is ticking don't waste you're money get a 4.0 .....lol I can not tell power difference in the motors when driving..
I have already pulled my boat this morning to get ready to go out on the water today...No difference!
Next is headliner replacement, then lift and tires!
