Default Foiled by "new" tweeters

I have the Harmon/Kardon system in my D2 but my rear door tweeters don't work, I picked up 2 ones off a D2 in the wrecking yard and they don't work either! Talk about some bad luck! I've tested the wiring, it's all good and I get sound out of another tweeter I had laying around when I connect it to the wiring, so it looks like I managed to become the proud owner of 4 blown tweeters. Next step is to strip out the guts of one and 3D print out an insert so I can put an aftermarket driver in the stock casing so it will still look stock.

Interesting. I have a 2000 w the HK system and it all works except these 2 speakers as well. I haven't tested the wiring as you have but it does seem suspect/similar.

I wonder if these just crap out more than the other ones? Or is something else going on.

Yeah, I wonder that too, perhaps they are more sensitive to electrical problems than the larger speakers. I know the back tweeters are wired in parallel with the rear woofers as opposed to the front tweeters which are on their own channel from the amp.

As a final update to close this out (I try and follow up with my posts as much as I can). I designed and 3D printed out a set of inserts for some cheap tweeters (link below) and then took out the "guts" of the factory tweeters. I then put the insert in followed by the tweeter, the fit was pretty good but I added a few drops of glue just to guarantee they wouldn't rattle around. I installed them and they sound pretty good to me!
