What plug wires did you use?
Go ahead and replace the cats.

Had everything checked out today. Injectors, plugs are good. Cat was shot, completely desintegrated on the inside. rattled around bunch of loose peices. Had new one welded on. runs like a dream.

Glad all is well. Did they replace both cats or just one? How much was it?

Both cats replaced with magnaflow. To check the wires, plugs, injectors, exhaust valves, and replace 2 cats cost 300. Sounded like a good deal to me-or did i get ricpped off. Only took a few hours

Cats just don't fail or die on their own, they fail from contamination, be it coolant, gas or oil. If you don't find the cause, it will happen again, sooner then later.

Im thinkin that the damage might have been done a long time ago when I had faulty injectors. back then it even had trouble with hard starts. It must've passed the point of no return for the cats a long time ago, and just now produced noticeable problems.

Mike

I'm having the same problem with overheated cat. Not driving it. Replaced the left head gasket due to leak on cylinder five.
The hot cat is on the same side of the engine. Muffler shop says the cats are good. Looks like it isn't firing on a couple
of cylindars. Should I replace the coils too?
