Default HD Axles

Couple of questions RE: HD Axles:

I recently purchased a set of ARB's so I am going to upgrade to the HD axles. I am 90% sold on the great basin but would love any input that anyone has on another set that is priced comparably.

Second question: The ARB set came complete with front and rear HD axles from a DI (I have a '04 D2 thus the need to buy new axles). They look exactly the same as the stock set up so how can I tell if they are HD or not? I am getting suspicious that they are stock and wanted to confirm one way or another.

D1 axles won't work on a D2.
I have the Great Basin axles from 7 plus years ago, but there are others out there to look at . Try Luck 8 as well as the Todd Co for good axles at more competive prices.
Also, make sure you install new bearings on the diffs. before installing them.

i'm curious how much you paid for your ARBs? Sounds like they're used? Front and rear?

So you can put in HD axles with out changing to a HD diff ?
Would it not brake the weak diffs that Land Rovers have?

I got them for $1,800 with ~15K of use (the truck had 70K total so some where between 15 and 70). The package included front and rear diffs complete with arb's installed (stock gears), upgraded compressor and the DI HD front and rear axles (like i said earlier though I am not sure how to tell if they are HD's or not). I am assuming that I can sell my diffs and axles that will cover the install. I am going to have an ARB dealer do an overhaul (replace o rings and basically check everything out etc), install the compressor and wiring ($125)and install the new axles for 300 per side. Do you think that is an ok deal?

I might be wrong here but i think the weakest point of the set up are the axles which is why i am swaping them out....

Spider gears are the weakest point when unlocked, locked then it is the axles.
