I sure hope that all that it was is a spring making some noise but my luck usually does not go that way .
After it made the popping sound I did disengage the CDL,I pulled foward probably 75' (it seemed to may have been making a slight clicking sound from the front maybe ) and the TC,CDL and ABS lights were still on. I engaged and disengaged it another time, turned it off them back on again, all lights went off, drove home 3 miles with no noises from transfer case or front end.
So if it were a CV joint would it not move at all,any way to test to see.

Just got back in from looking over the LR. I jacked up the front end,put the transfer case in netural, turned each wheel by hand, the driveshaft turns smoothly with no unusual sounds as I spin each wheel . I repeated this process on the rear end with same results.
Afterwards I jacked up one of the front wheels at a time, chocked the rear wheels, put TC in high, gear shifter in drive and let off of the brakes and the wheel that was off of the ground spun freely. I also did this on all four wheels with the same results.
Does everything sound normal to you guys, also with both front wheels off of the ground and I spin one, does the other wheels suppose to spin in the opposite direction.

Yeah with teh CDL disengaged it would not move is you lost a front CV. It would be the path of least resistance and would just spin. It sounds like there is nothing wrong so that is good.
