Other then how well you maintane your u-joints, there is always a clunk as you described. Have you greased your u-joints, have your replaced the 2 non servicable u-joints in your front drive shaft?

That's not a lot of miles. If it was the u-joints you should be able to feel any play in them if they were clunking like that. The best way to check is to raise the front wheels off the ground so that the driveshaft can turn free, grab each side of the joint and try twist it in opposite directions feeling for the slightest amount of play. I notice a quiet klunk when I let off the gas and then get on it, I think it was more so with my cdl engaged. That seems normal.

I'm pretty sure there is a natural clunk like that when you let of the gas around 30-35, or anywhere close to where the gears change. I noticed it too but realized it was just a normal sound. And my U-joints are perfect. I would say dont worry about it unless you feel its unnatural or more of a grinding sound.

Goodpoint. Noises arevery hardto describewithout actually being there and hearing it, only you know for sure. Or take it to somebody who knows.
