Lift kit, best option with SLS?
Well I've finally decided to start modding the Discovery.. after getting it back on the road following a 1.5 year rebuild after a crash totaled it, I've thrown everything at it in its first 1000mi back on the streets. Multiple snowstorms (trips to my friends barn to feed the horses in 14"+ snow) brought a 1600lb round bale on a trailer through DEEP mud this past weekend, multiple trips around the yard towing bluestone to a dry lot we are making for the horses.. and now it's going to be -5 degrees tonight...
I'm definitely glad I decided to get this thing back on the road, and now.. with my first offroad event on the horizon at the end of the month, I'm thinking it's a good time to do some suspension mods.
I've redone the SLS to use an air tank, w/ Viair compressor - the Artnott lifetime air bags are already installed as well so I plan on KEEPING THE SLS, I also have the keyfob to raise/lower for trailering.
From what I've gathered, I want new shocks all around (I think these are original 1999 shocks...!) that are designed for a 2" lift?
Then I need new 2" lift springs for the front, and 2" SLS spacers for the rear?
I don't need radius arms or anything else w/ a 2", but may need to bend or modify the brake line and ABS line brackets for max travel?
I've tried to read up on this but only 15% were related to SLS installs, and even less were for mostly-stock vehicles.
Thanks for the input!

I just did this to my 2000 DII.
I installed ToddCo 2" Rear Spacers and an Old Man Emu Heavy Duty set of front springs for a 2" lift. I also installed Old Man Emu NitroCharger shocks and an Old Man Emu Steering Damper.
I went with a heavy duty front due to a couple of factors.
1. I have a Hard Labor Creek Fabrications winch bumper.
2. Perhaps more importantly, I wanted to minimized nose dive under braking when pulling a trailer.
I ordered my rear SLS spacers directly from ToddCo and ordered my OME products from Bill at Great Basin Rovers.
I spent quite a bit of time talking to Bill about my intended use, which includes pulling our boat and pulling my enclosed motorcycle trailer.
I will also use the truck in some mild off road activities.
I was able to install LT 275/65/18 10 ply tires and they fill the wells quite nicely. I opted to stick with 18" wheels to avoid inducing sway from really tall sidewalls, but I probably would have been fine installing 16" wheels with comparable sized tires given that they are 10 ply.

I'm very happy with how it turned out.

For SLS spacers there are a few options. Terrafirma, Toddco and RTE Fab.
2 Inch SLS Air Bag Spacer - Discovery Series II - Rovertym Inc.
TF526 - Spring spacers
Land Rover Discovery Series II 1999.5-2004 Suspension Lift Kits
Here is a overview of from a former forum member: http://montanaoverland.wordpress.com...sion-part-one/
I my lift was done with all Terrafirma parts
- TF042 MD front springs
- TF526 SLS spacers
- TF127 & TF128 +2" Shocks
- TF610L extended brake lines
Here's my thread with before and after photos: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...t-tires-61751/
I went with 255/70R18 tires because I got a great deals on them $488 for 4. It would have been another $172 for 275/65R18 (same diameter, only 1" wider)
With a 2" lift the drive shaft will hit the crossmember. Some people remove it, others install spacers to lower it. I still need to do something.

Thanks TripleThreat for the good info and quick response as always! That's my ideal setup I think, but I'm not sure how much I want to invest into the disco quite yet. She has 168k and I haven't done any motor work to it yet sooo.
I also have the event in a few weeks so I might do as much as possible in the mean time. Or I suppose I could put the disco wheels on the range rover sport and just take that... but it's not as well suited for the dog / camping atmosphere lol.
Acamato.. that's what I had pieced together yesterday.. the MD front springs state that you might end up too high in the front without the extra weight (50kg or something?)
If that's the case, can I just modify the height sensors to offset for this (ie I'd just end up with an even lift a little higher than 2"?)
CB, reading thread now - thanks!

My front sits 3/4" lower than the rear with no extra weight in the front. I plan to add a steel bumper eventually. I may change to the HD springs.
I should remeasure the front to see if they settled after being installed for 3/4 of a year.
