It won't from what I've been told. You'll have to get a seperate transmission controller from Ashcroft because the D2 trans is electronically controlled.

Its a legitimate question. If it were an old school hydraulically (is hydraulically correct? I know it's some kind of physical process and not an electronic one) shifted auto trans which came in the RRC and most if not all D1s then it might work. The only reason it wont with a D2 is because it's electronically controlled.
