Default Mystery coolant purge

Returned from a short drive and parked. Came out later to find probably 10 oz of coolant on the ground from the expansion tank area but there's still coolant in the tank. There was wetness on the shock tower and on the frame below I warmed it up and tried to find a leak but nothing. I drove for 60 miles and zero leak. What the heck happened?

My first suspicion would be that there was a bit too much coolant in the system and it just blew off the excess, but 10 oz is quite a bit. Before doing anything too crazy I would keep a close eye on it over the next few days. Unless the level in the reservoir is quite low I wouldn’t add any fluid, just keep an eye on it and see if the level stays the same.

For some, incontinence is just part of getting older ...

that's one of my biggest fears. that as i get older i'll begin to resemble my D2 more and more.

faded, underpowered, quite out of style, and leaving puddles everywhere i go.

When you drive there is better cooling because of air flow and rpm. Check the coolant temperature, especially when you idle. This could give an indication why the over pressure valve in the reservoir cap triggers and releases coolant.

I forgot the most important part. It didn't come from the over pressure / cap. I have a catch bottle on that. I have driven it daily since and there's not a drop of coolant leaking.....

Check your tank for cracks, around the lower and upper half joint.

This has happened to me. Tank seam was failing in an hard to see location. I noticed coolant missing and also from around the tank. Pulled it out and found the crack.

Had a spare on hand and swapped it.

Mine does this. I can fill it to the proper line, but my D2 says no and pisses a little out until it's at the level it decides it wants. It won't do anymore than a few ounces and then it stops.

That used to happen on my '99 until I changed the cap on the reservoir.
