Again, I think you should buy a D2 with a 4.0 Bosch motor in it in good running condition. There are always D2s with exploded transmissions from the front drive shaft falling apart.

There is a guy on the forum selling a 00' D2, 130K miles, heads done at 80K in riverside asking for anything above $2,000.

As another member suggested, find a P38 Range Rover with a Bosch motor(I think its 99 or newer with the Bosch motor, but could be 2000). As he said Range Rovers tend to have less miles and be better taken care of. The HSE model had the 4.6 and has been said to be more reliable than the D2 4.6.

If you get a D2, then you have spare parts for your car.

It's insane, but you can get a whole car for less than most sell a motor for, plus you get to hear it run and test it instead of taking someones word. Nothing worse than installing a motor only to find it has a tick or some other problem.

Watch Craigslist, You will find one in a week or 2.

thanks. I'll keep both options open. Won't be getting to it for a few weeks anyhow.
