Your welcome Rich!

Tell the wife I would be excited to have the company..... Pack 'er on up & come on over! The fish are everywhere! Big blues are anywhere you wanna cast on the whole beach, lots of puppy drum-yearlings! Big flounder! My buddy caught a 23inch flounder yesterday in the sound right across from my house on his first cast!

Could you tell me?..... I think I read somewhere here in the forum that the biggest tire I can put on a stock Disco II is a LT265/75/R16 with an "E" rating? Is this correct? I am fixing to buy a set of 4 online today and I want to make ABSOLUTELY sure that I dont get ones that dont fit.... Uggh, that would be an Expensive mistake to reship!

Looks like the best price I have been able to find is $700.00 to my front door (including a $60 mail in rebate) at Discount Tire Direct! Whatdoyathink?

Tricia!

Hey Tricia,
Thanks again for the offer, I'll definitely take you up on it, one of these days!

As for the tires. I'm about the farthest thing from an expert on this forum, so I'll just relay my experience with my 2003. I mounted a set of 265 75 16's on the truck w/out a lift, and didn't like the way they rubbed. Even with a 2" lift, I've had to do a little trimming to alleviate all of the rub.

There is a thread here:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=34641
where Muddmouth has mounted the same size tires, on a different year truck and says that they hardly rub at all.

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck with the purchase!

cheers,
rich

Tricia, I am coming for spring break this year.
I have Goodyear Dura tracs and they are awesome. I put a lift on so I would say stick with the stock size.
Got any recomendations for a rental or a good (as in cheap and not so nasty) hotel for a week? I will be coming with the wife and an infant.

245/75/16 is the largest you can fit stock without rubbing...I love red drums BTW...

Im running 265/75/r16 Federal Couragia M/T and I love em, They do rub some what but if you plan on lifting your truck their all you'll need. I just put a 2 1/2" lift on mine and they still rub but only a lil. Also their cheap too which always helps.

Isn't there an 85 series that is taller but narrower?

The 245 is the biggest they recommend without a lift. I bought 235's then ended up putting on a 2 inch lift, but they still do fine.

I guess in the sand you want as wide a footprint as possible for that flotation effect, riding on top and digging straight down.

Did you check very many on line places. For 700 bucks you can get some really badass big name tires, like Mickey Thompsom or Dick Cepek extreme type tread designs. Like for Desert Racing. Did you try tirerack.com and similar sites?

Tricia,
If you are really going to use your truck for mainly the beach, then I would get something like this: Bridgestone Dueler H/t (d684ii) Tire- P245/75r16 114s Owl. The real secret to driving on the beach is to use a tire with high flotation and not a lot of tread. The Bridgestone or similar tire is relitively inexpensive, has little tread and will provide great flotation. Just my 2 cents. Tight lines, JF
