Post not running on all cyls

I just installed the engine in our 2001 D2 after repair and got everything hooked up,primed the oil pump and serviced the coolant and started the engine. It ran a little sluggish and wanted to idle too low but I ran it until it was warm and then I noticed the exhaust manifolds not heating evenly. (ENGINE MISSFIRE) MIL was flashing so I turned it off. RAVE says the CKP will need to be recaled to the ECU if it has been removed or replaced. Is this true? It also says that contamination of the reluctor on the flywheel my be a prob. Its missing on #1#7#4#6. These cyls share the same coil. I checked my connections and now I am going to clean the reluctor as it does have some spotty surface rust. I cant get the codes read yet due to the truck not being drivable,(Cant afford a handheld reader yet ) If I can get it running on all eight I'll get the codes read ASAP. Any help with this prob will be greatly appriciated.------------Jneil

Do you have the parts from your old motor? Most times the CKP, TPS and IAC all have to be set with testbook. Sometimes people get lucky and they work. If you have your old sensors, swap them out.

Did you replace the coils and intake with the injectors?

Default not running on all cyls

I am making progress, I had some wires swapped around,i e the L/H coil and idle bypass valve are both three pin connectors and can be swapped. I will give a update as soon as I run the engine again. The sensors are original as this is the original engine I repaired after water got into the oil via a failed timing cover gasket. Thanks for the info, I'LL post the results.---Jneil

I have resolved mt missfire prob by connecting the proper plugs to the proper component.( I cant be the only one who has done this, Can I?) I now have other problems which I will post on another thread. Thanks for the help.

you are the first to do the bypass and the coil that I have heard of. Most of the time its the wires mixed up.
