So I recently installed an external temperature sensor in a customers truck using the sensor port. A lot of forum members have asked about and actually ordered the port up variant, I thought you guys might like to see what the installation of the sensor looks like. This particular sensor is a 1/8" NPT fitting so we needed an adapter bushing (available with the kits now to make it easier to get everything in one place). The housing and sensor still both clear the hood with no problems or intereference, they just don't fit quite as snug on the radiator shroud.
I need to move mine as the port sensor faces more upward than how you installed yours. Yours looks cleaner, mine doesn't hit the hood, but it's close. Always good to have pictures to compare.
Key is to rotate it down with all the hose clamps loose/not over the metal, then once you have it positioned ideally tighten/slip hose clamps in position. BTW, I like to use silicone between the hose and the metal to glue the hose to the metal.

I hadn't thought of further sealing by using Silicone. I'd be afraid it would somehow contaminate the coolant, but that would be unlikely.
Does it make it harder to remove the hoses to replace them?
In-line stat works amazing with a an aftermarket 4core rad! I was running 190 and 180 motorad conventional thermostats for the last few years with no real issues other than much higher temps my truck just before the in-line stat had been running at 197 average and creep up to 204 while idiling for a while. This is way better. I’ll report again after I get my AC working again Thanks extinct
Idiling in 28* heat no AC Cruising at 95kmh.
