I have spent a lot of money on the cooling system, from cap, to hoses, to rad to water wetter and more. I fear that the PO put in blue devil and the HD issue is just around the corner (I have the kit and have had the kit for 8 years.....). So Tim was able to get me the mod through customs to Calgary in decent time. I installed it last night and tightened the bolts this morning with 54 degrees ambient. Left the expansion tank open. 6:15 am I started the truck and waited for 180. It never happened..... So I went for a reckless drive and tried to get it up to 180 and it hit that, and then down to 178!! I saw two discos within 3 blocks of my house and damn near stopped and put a note on their windscreen to get them on this page. I will do that later this weekend.

It will be 86 degrees today and I look forward to the testing.

I am beyond impressed with the service, product and result. If anything arises this afternoon, I will follow up. I love this community. We all miss DiscoMike (RIP) but remain thankful of the innovative and intelligent owners who regularly opine. Thank you Extinct.

Rover On.

@kdscott100 Glad to hear it is going well, as a reference point, what temps were you seeing before?

Hi, so 91 degrees tonight. Did a stop and go and it got to 215 in traffic. The system was not pressurised. Headed up the hills at 55 mpg and went to 195. Expect the air to gradually escape.

Previously in 70 ambient weather , I would run 203 to 207 on the highway and higher.

Rarely do we have such hot weather so I remain chuffed with the modification.

Installed the inline thermostate today, significant cooler! First it would run 210-220 easy and also the electric fan came on (last couple of weeks but i’m not driving the disco since it is suspended due to getting everything fixed). When i removed the old thermostat it was the original one from 1998

only problem I encountered was that it started leaking from the thermostat, turns out i forgot to put silicon on the little nut. So removed the thermostat and the nut, and put silicon on it.
my question, how long should i wait to reinstall the thermostat? Until silicon has dried out or can i do this right away?

You can do it right away, but better if you let it cure.
