Currently riding motorcycles and bought a 67 Ford F100 for when it is really ugly outside; umpteen miles north of 200k and prior to my ownership, maintained by hillbillies for who knows how long. Hasn't failed me yet...
Feel I have the right to vent a bit.
A used front cover is a couple hundred, new timing set, $150 or so, new oil pump another $100, various gaskets, labor, should be under $1500 to have it done.
Either way it sucks, it really sucks.

What do you get for $8000 in engine repair? Sounds like the entire engine is completely unusable?
Holy moly I hope that was a typo.

Exclamation Oil light is coming on after idles down

Hi! I'm not a new member actually joined in 06, but haven't been on in a long time, so new handle. So here is my question, I've owned several discoveries and 2 03 discovery's anyway the one I have kept is an 03 discovery se with 123000 miles and yes it is in the vin range. It runs great but after it idles down and not moving the oil light flickers. So I am assuming that maybe some teeth on the oil pump gears maybe worn or broken. I have already purchased new oil pump gears, and gaskets from Atlantic British. Oh and a water pump since it will have to be removed anyway, actually got the pump on eBay. Anyway anything else I need to look at and do while I'm changing this? And what does it mean by priming oil pump? It's not an actual pump it's just gears that are being replaced, that pulls the oil( not like a whole mechanical part like a power steering pump). So how or what do I do there. Any advice is welcomed and any mechanical diagrams are greatly appreciated. Also if disco mike would send me an email I've got a few questions on my rover for him
