I'll get back in a few with the numbers without the duct.

EDIT: without duct

intake temp driving 135 slowly dropping to 119 with continue driving. 5mins
coolant temp driving 198*

Intake temp idling 128* and climbing
coolant temp idling 206.
Nice! I like some real numbers. Thats a 23 deg. drop at idle AND while driving! I'd say that's pretty good.

The colder the air the more dense it is. The more air you can fit inside your combustion chamber, the more fuel the computer can throw in there, and the more power you will get out of your engine. Of course there is a limit on this when using force induction to stuff more air into the cylinder, because then the fuel injectors will need to be replaced with ones that can deliver more fuel and the ecu will need to know how to do that, so proper "tuning" will need to be done, in the form of a chip or a full standalone computer.

CAI is the simplest way to get more air into your combustion chamber. ..And no those ebay "Turbonators" dont do anything ..lol

K&N cold air intake, Why not get one of those and fit it on? How would that work with the maf sensor?

K&N cold air intake is MEH.

Difference is 150$ AND..

It wouldn't help much.. IT would have a larger filter, with more area for air to enter which would increase flow, if flow out of the engine allows.

BUT

Temperature wouldn't be much difference. All theres does is makes a little wall around the filter. But how does the air get to the filter? There isn't much room for air to go around the headlight area and such. Basically temperature wouldn't change much if at all. This gets the air from FAR away from the engine. Meaning the only way the engine temperature effects it is by heating the air as it travels through the air system. Not only that but at higher speeds this is also a ram air intake, air in theory will have a higher pressure.
Supposedly resulting in more Horse Power, but what im interested in is fuel economy.

You get colder air at the top away from the exhaust especially in traffic and the heat of the road.

I see you made the unfortunate mistake of posting this over on Dweb (twice), they are not as civil over there.

Yes. Sadly I did..

See I come from the Toyota 4runner communtity where ideas are accepted. Sadly I see with land rover owners there not.
