Removed hose, and pulled out plastic oil separator. It was in a metal sleeve going into the valve cover. It was really gunked up with sludge.

Thanks again all

Do both sides, only a baffle separator on one side.

Okay. Yes I only did passenger side.

It was a little plastic baffle. I will fix drivers side as well.

Thanks for double checking my work Buzz

I put channel locks on the plastic tip that sticks out. The tip is about 1/4 inch long.

It pulled out fairly easy. I probably could have used small pliers.

I did notice when reinstalling, it didn't just want to pop back in (the last 1/3 of it) .I had to rotate it back and forth the get it down all the way.

I am not sure if you have to rotate it to key in the baffles, or if it just aided because of the snug fit?

It seemed to my like the baffle on the bottom of the piece needed to be oriented a certain way to go completely in.

Mine was pretty gummed up when i pulled it, but it still came out fairly easy.

Maybe rotate it slightly while pulling ?

I wonder if the plastic could possibly have melted into the sleeve?

This was on the passenger side, i haven't had time to check the drivers side.

Let me know if you have any luck

Baffle is only on one side, but depending on engine rpm the hose on the MAF side can also be involved.

The top of my baffle is flush with the top of the steel tube. I have nothing to grip, I tried using a bent over pick to grip inside the baffle but, all I did was jerk off the pick handle.

It is also acceptable practice to squirt carb cleaner down in it, this will solvent the gunk into the oil, where it will be trapped by the filter. Don't worry, that small amount of gunk won't look out of place inside the older Rover engine....

When you are done take out the dipstick and watch for exhaust gas coming out. if it does its the rings.

I wonder if you could use a really small easy out? Maybe they make them for plastics?

Just a thought.
