Needle nose pliers, if it is stuck dissolve the gunk with carb cleaner first, then twist and pull with the pliers.

Thanks, but what do you grab? The oil separator is flush with the top of the metal tube.

You grab the top nipple, you need to use skinny needle nose pliers, open them inside the metal sleeve in the valve cover, grab the nipple, wiggle and pull.
It will come out, it was probably put in upside down, it should stick up above the sleeve.

Pix of the noodle inspired baffle separator - Oil Separator - Valve Cover (LLJ000010 Same Fit As Genuine Part # LLJ000010) - Land Rover miscellaneous from Atlantic British - you'll see why it can be installed backwards....

Interesting, from the picture I see what you are supposed to grab but, mine is completely flat on top and flush with metal tube. Absolutely nothing to grab I even bent over a pick and hooked it down in the hole in the center of the baffle and yanked untill the handle pulled off the pick. Also, the only opening in mine is a small hole in the center not like in the picture shown with the half circle shape. This is on the passenger side valve cover right?

Yes passenger valve cover.
You are going to have to remove the valve cover it get yours out, order a new one.
Remove the valve cover, drill it, punch it, whatever, get it out and then put the new one in.
Clean it every 6 months.

And what a great time to do valve cover gaskets, if you start without them they will be dry and brittle, according to Murphy's Law....

I might wait awhile, the gaskets are only a year old. I sprayed some carb cleaner through it and I can blow through the hose and air passes through some what easily. I could always try to thread a lag bolt down into it and pop it out with a slide hammer.

Just remember it goes directly into the head, so if you break any of it and it falls into the head...

We were able to pull the metal sleeve out of the valve cover and work on pulling out the separator.

The after cleaning the metal sleeve the new separator did not want to go in an we needed a little force to put in the new separator. We installed the nipple end of the separator just above the rim of the sleeve to aid in changing.

Sleeve was open on one end with a small hole on the other end (the hole is down stream toward the intake plenum).
