Default priming oil pump

Is there any other way to prime the oil pump after it has been installed?

It should self-prime within a few moments of running/cranking. If it isnt priming, you may have other issues.

Did you make sure you installed the o-ring on the pickup tube?

Google priming LS1, there are several methods of priming. Its actually a good bit easier on the Disco, you can screw a fitting in to the oil filter housing with a hose attached and either gravity fill or pressure fill from there.

What was the reason for replacing your oil pump? Did you get a new replacement gear set? Used? Did you get a new whole cover assembly?

There was a leak so I replaced the gasket. When I took the gears out of the pump I noticed the outer one was cracked so I replaced them as well. Replaced the oil pan gasket and new filter as well

I’ve packed em with vaseline and never had an issue. You “should” technically be able to coat the oil pump gears in oil, close it all up & upon startup within 10sec have oil pressure.

did you replace the pump with a used pump? The pump and cover wear together and have a very very fine tolerance. Transferring old pumps into old covers always feels like bad juju to me. Did you check the cover carefully? Any scoring or wear? How about the "new" pump?

You still havent answered as to what is actually happening. Are you having a low oil light? Clattering lifters? Did you check oil pressure with a gauge? Flying blind here..
